-Jo Francks MH The International Herb Association has named Elder as herb of the year for 2013. There is more romance, folklore, tradition, and superstition recorded in history about this remarkable plant than about any other herb known. The great herbalist, Henry Box of England, stated, “For colds, influenza, fevers, inflammation of the brain, pneumonia, inflammation of stomach, bowels, or any other part, this is a certain cure. I have never known it to fail, even when given up and at the point of death, it will not only save at the eleventh hour, but at the last minute of that hour. It is so harmless that you cannot use it amiss, and so effectual that you cannot give it in vain.” The flowers and berries are the parts of the plant that are most used internally although the bark and leaves have been used externally for skin conditions such as boils, swelling, bruises, and eczema. The bark and root are not used internally so much because they are strong purgatives and emetic. The berries are a wonderful herb to use for colds and flu. I like to combine them with rose hips and calendula flowers to make a tea or an extract. Use equal parts of each dried herb for each preparation. For a tea use a teaspoon of the combined herbs per cup of distilled water. Boil the water and pour over the herb, cover and let steep for 15 to 20 minutes. Drink while warm. To make an extract fill a glass jar half way with the herbs and fill the jar the rest of the way with equal parts distilled water and vegetable glycerin. Cap the jar and shake it several times a day for 2 weeks, strain off the liquid through a piece of muslin or cheese cloth. The liquid that you strained off is the extract. Use a half teaspoon of this preparation several times a day. Elder is one of Dr. Christopher’s 100 herbs and a very good choice for herb of the year for 2013. It would be beneficial to learn more about this herb and get some to have on hand in case your family needs something for the seasonal illnesses going around.

June 7th, 2012Infant Vaccinations

We all want to protect babies from disease! How this is accomplished is the dividing factor. We are all exposed to the modern medicine model, in school, through the media, from relatives, and even from churches. Seldom are the alternative voices heard. Let me first say that I believe exposing a healthy person to small amounts of disease is a good idea, it strengthens and prepares the immune system for possible outbreaks. I do not believe the current medical model does this safely or effectively.

We are born with immunity to many diseases, because of our species, population and individual environments. Diseases that might affect us are negated through passive immunity received through the placenta and then from breast milk. Our own immune system starts to develop after a few months, and then starts developing memory at six months and can stop relying on passive immunity from mother’s milk at weaning “around eighteen months”. This is common knowledge acquired in any anatomy text.

My main concern with vaccines is why do they inject them into babies? There is no immune memory till the child’s immune system develops in the time frame of 6 months to 18 months! No benefit, thousands of casualties. I am personally contacted by many women with children who were perfectly normal until these children received vaccines.

We can safely become immune to many diseases by being healthy and interacting in society. We gain this immunity by exposure to our first line of defense, the mucus lining our skin, especially in orifices. This barrier traps invaders exposing them to phagocyte immune cells which engulf them and then alert T-cells and B-cells which target and destroy all invaders. Then memory cells keep us ready for secondary assaults thus creating immunity. This is a lifetime protection.

Vaccines are injected past our natural defenses, and rarely offer immunity for more than a few years. Even though blood work shows active anti-bodies, it is no guarantee against invasion. As an example, many universities have strict admittance requirements to be fully vaccinated. Even with 100% compliance they have experienced disease epidemics in these “protected populations”, with fully vaccinated individuals, coming down with the disease.

I implore everyone to hear both sides of this issue before ever accepting another vaccination. The best alternative treaties on this subject is “Vaccines: Are They Really Safe and Effective”by Neil Miller. This easy read is a fully documented text and is available at Christopher Publications.

There are two major classifications for diabetes: Type I, juvenile onset diabetes or IDDM (Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus); and Type II, adult onset diabetes or NIDDM (Non- Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus). These classifications describe one as being dependent on insulin while the other is not. This confuses people when they have to take insulin after being diagnosed with adult onset diabetes or Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes. When these classifications were created there was no confusion, but the medical therapies that are used today force type II diabetics into insulin dependency.

Type I diabetes is an auto immune disease. The beta cells in the pancreas are targeted by the immune system, which systematically targets and destroys all of these insulin producing cells. Note that this is not a malfunctioning immune system. It does not randomly destroy all cells but specifically targets only the beta cells (which produce insulin). The disease results in a dependency of administered insulin, hence the classification, Insulin Dependent Diabetes. The principle therapies are to calm the immune system so it doesn’t attack its’ own cells, and feed the body what it needs to replace these beta cells. Dr. Christopher’s Immune Calm Formula helps the body to not attack its’ own cells, and the Dr. Christopher’s Pancreas Formula along with the Dr. Christopher’s Complete Tissue and Bone Formula give the body what it needs to replace the insulin producing cells. Also eating copious amounts of green beans will give the body the needed vanadium mineral along with other minerals and vitamins necessary for the manufacturing of insulin. Staying away from the consumption of sugary foods, white flour products and dairy is essential to the program.

Type II (NIIDDM) or adult onset diabetes is an entirely different disease than Type I and is basically an environmental condition. It develops entirely because of poor environmental choices or more plainly stated, eating the wrong foods. The solution then is simple. Grow up and eat like an adult. Reject the candies, cakes, cookies, breads, crackers, cold cereals, milk, ice cream, soda pop, etc. In fact reject all manufactured foods. Do not buy foods in cans or packages, but choose to purchase all your food from the produce section of the grocery store. Even better would be to purchase organic produce. Half of this produce should be eaten raw. Never eat processed fruit; it should always be eaten raw. If you follow these procedures, which have been taught by many natural healers for centuries, you will be over your Type II diabetes within 6 months. The healing can be quickened if you include Dr. Christopher’s 4 basic cleansing formulas (Lower Bowel, Kidney, Liver and Gallbladder, and Bloodstream), as well as his Vitalerbs, Pancreas Formula, and Adrenal Formula.

If this isn’t enough information and you need a medical witness may I suggest the excellent work “Eat To Live” by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, M.D. In this book Dr. Fuhrman shows how all diabetics who follow the program can go off insulin and live normal lives.

Type I Diabetes is manageable and Type II Diabetes is easy to cure if you grow up and eat like an adult.
