One of natures finest super foods is wheat germ oil. Dr. Christopher taught that Wheat germ oil should be taken daily, along with apple cider vinegar, black strap molasses and cayenne. To begin, Wheat germ oil is high in antioxidants which benefit the body by supporting the immune system, protecting the cardiovascular system and helping to prevent development of cancer. The virtues of Wheat germ oil also safeguard the nervous system and the reproductive system.

Wheat germ oil’s anti- inflammatory qualities work well in skin injuries, infection, eczema ad burns. Wheat germ oil is high in squalene a natural/organic compound that increases cell growth. Dr. Christopher used wheat germ oil in his Burn Paste Formula which helps healing by rebuilding new cells.
Wheat germ oil contains both linoleic and linolenic acids (precursors for omega 6 and omega 3 fatty acids) and Octacosanol found present in wheat germ oil can improve performance levels during exercise particularly stamina and endurance. Octacosanol may also have a beneficial effect to lower LDL cholestral levels and (Octacosanol is a number of long chain fatty, waxy alcohols found in wheat germ oil.) - can you explain to us why this is important? One of the best ways to energize your body and get nutrition in quickly is to juice your fruits and vegetables.  The juice of the plant is the blood of the plant.  So by juicing you are also building your own blood.  Freshly made juice from your own juicer is definitely the best.  When you drink fresh juice, the nutrients are quickly absorbed into the bloodstream and utilized by the body.  The rest of the plant is the fiber.  There are no nutrients or enzymes in the fiber.  Any pesticides or sprays are also left behind in the fiber*.  Nutrients from fresh juices get to cells within a few minutes. When we eat the fruits and vegetables we only absorb 30% of the nutrition from them and we use up a lot of energy digesting the food. When we juice the same fruits and vegetables we absorb 90% of the nutrients and it is absorbed into the bloodstream within minutes*.  The fresh juice contains the important enzymes that help digestion and build the body. Dr. Christopher’s Incurables Program is based around juicing to treat incurable diseases.  Each week on the incurables program one rotates between carrot juice the first week, apple juice the second week and grape juice the third week.  The full incurables routine is contained in the book Herbal Home Health Care, or Curing the Incurables, both by Dr. John R. Dr. Christopher has always had his patients do the Three Day Cleansing program followed by the Mucusless Diet.  The Three Day Cleanse gives the body the opportunity to rest and get rid of toxins that have been building up in the system over time. It is done by drinking 16 ounces of prune juice first thing in the morning and alternating 8oz of either apple, carrot or grape juice (make sure to use the same juice for the 3 days) and distilled water for the rest of the day. During this program you will also take 1 tablespoon of olive oil three times during the day.  Alternate the juice and water every half hour until about 8:00 p.m. repeat for two more days and begin the Mucusless Diet.  Complete instructions are contained in Herbal Home Health Care or the booklet The Three Day Cleansing Program.

If you don’t want to go as far as the Incurables program or the Three Day Cleanse, just add more fresh juices to your diet each day.  Fruit juices are very cleansing to the human body whereas vegetable juices are nourishing and building to the body. Fresh juices provide vital nutrition that is easily absorbed into the system.  Go ahead, try it!

In answer to the many inquiries of what to do about the recent news and reports (New York Times) of a radiation plume reaching the west coast by Friday, here are some things to know and ways in which you can be prepared.

At this point the levels of radiation prospected to be in the plume that would actually fall on estimated California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Alaska, etc. is very minimal and is not to pose a serious risk to health. However, “if” the situation in Japan worsens (ie. the Fukushima reactors have a rod “meltdown” - creating a massive release of radiation into the atmosphere) taking the following precautions/preparations would be our suggestion, especially for those living in the pacific and on the west coast.

1) Take the time to reevaluate your emergency plan and supplies as a family. Make sure your vehicles are not empty of fuel in case you need to evacuate and do not count on phones working in case of actual emergency.

2) If suggestion is and you plan to, stay put and to stay within your home for an allotment of time make sure you have plastic and duct tape to seal your windows and doors as well as the supplies needed in the case of a usual emergency: water, food, etc.

3) If you plan to evacuate, have at least a 72-hour kit ready to go at a moment’s notice. This is good to have no matter what you plans are.

4) Staring now, significantly increase your intake of naturally sourced iodine-containing foods and superfoods: (*estimated amounts of naturally occurring iodine). We want to make it clear that any consumption of kelp from clean waters is a great source of naturally-occurring iodine for the body and will be an asset in building stores for the blood if needed. The list of food sources given below with estimated measurements in parts per million (ppm) of iodine is purely for your information - not dosage recommendation of one type of kelp over another.

  •     Icelandic Kelp - *8000ppm
  •     Kelp, Dulse, etc. (Seaweeds) - *5400ppm
  •     Chlorella - *100ppm
  •     Spirulina - *70ppm
  •     Pistachios - *51ppm
  •     Dark Greens in all their variety
  •     Colorful vegetables & fresh fruits
  •     Onions & Garlic
  • Once you have a source of kelp, the recommended dosage amount for building blood stores of iodine (if needed for exposure to radiation) would be 8-12 capsules a day. Make note: this amount varies according to size and health of each individual.5) The purpose of increasing your intake of iodine-containing foods is to raise the amount of stable iodine in the blood. This will increase the likelihood that the thyroid will absorb the stable iodine instead of the radioactive iodine (iodine-129 and iodine-131) released during a nuclear accident.

    6) During the intake of iodine (kelp), further precautionary measures would be to take the four Dr. Christopher’s Cleansing Formulas to keep things cleaned out (Lower Bowel Formula, Kidney Formula, Liver & Gall Bladder Formula, and the Blood Stream Formula) and then to add the Heavy Mineral Bugleweed Formula for additional cleansing.     The value of grapefruit is challenged because it appears to augment and increase the amount of certain drugs in the blood stream.  That could be a plus in that a person could use a smaller dose of a drug and get the same effect.  However cardiovascular drugs, which are the main drugs effected, are dose critical and could produce dangerous side effects.  Although some cardiovascular drugs can save lives, temporarily, most are counterproductive and can worsen the condition.  These drugs will be discussed in later issues.  Grapefruit can still be consumed while using these drugs, however a person should separate the drugs and grapefruit by two hours.

    I believe all citrus to be super foods, with their high Vitamin C content which is a powerful antioxidant that is faster acting than the antioxidants in Vitamin E or the carotenoids.  They also contain a unique fiber called pectin, which attaches to damaged cholesterol and removes it from the body.  This pectin also soothes inflammation that can damage cells and lead to cancer.  This pectin is mainly found in the rind and white pith.  Also found in this outer area of the citrus are hesperidin for good HDL and LDL ratios, rutin for correcting capillary fragility, and limonoids which protect the breast from excess accumulations of estadiol hormone, which accumulations have been linked to breast cancer.  In fact, according to one of the School of Natural Healing’s teachers James Duke PhD., over 200 anti-carcinogenic compounds have been found in citrus.

    Studies from Japan show that grapefruit stopped tumor growth and even caused remission of malignancy.  Other mice studies showed a 50% reduction of cancer in mice that received grapefruit juice instead of water.

    Grapefruit contains furanocoumarins and naringins, responsible for its’ unique bitter flavor, which prevent certain pharmaceuticals from breaking down, in the body, thus magnifying their effects.

    Substituting oranges for grapefruit brings on its’ own situation in that oranges have the opposite effect on these drugs by decreasing their potency.  This also has a potential upside in that a reduction of the drug means a reduction of the life threatening side effects. Again, because of critical dose level this wouldn’t be practical.

    As far as I am concerned if a drug’s efficacy is dependant on staying away from good foods then we should find a way to get off those drugs.  Taking courses at the School of Natural Healing would help obtain the knowledge and subsequent ability to achieve that purpose.

    Hello friends,
    In my effort to teach people how to convert to a whole-foods, 60-80% raw, mostly plant-based diet, I’ve found one habit that I consider to be the highest and best use of your kitchen time.
    Making a blenderful of green smoothie takes only 10 minutes a day. I recommend doing it first thing in the morning, before the day gets away from you. Then put it in quart or pint jars in the fridge. Take your quart (my daily recommendation) and a straw to work with you, or running errands.

    A 96-oz. blenderful makes a quart for me, and a pint for each of my four children. That’s 15 servings of greens and fruit for me, and 7.5 servings for them. Wow!

    I prefer drinking my green smoothie at lunch because that’s the meal people typically have no time to prepare. Consequently, it’s the meal where we are most likely to eat “fast food” that lacks nutrition and fiber. The foods most Americans eat cause a big energy drain because the body has to work so hard to manufacture enzymes and break down heavy processed foods and animal proteins.

    Even if you want something not particularly good for you at lunch, if you’ve filled your stomach up FIRST with high-nutrition greens and fruit (400 calories in a quart), you’ll eat less of the inferior foods.
    And your blended greens provide external enzymes to break down other food.

    Furthermore, you’re going to see a stabilization of your energy and mood in the late afternoon. That’s when many working people find that they need their productivity most – right as it fails them! Many turn to caffeine or other stimulants just to get through the day.

    If your lunch nutrition includes large amounts of the highest-micronutrient foods on earth (greens), you will likely achieve radically improved energy. That may happen immediately. Or it may happen after giving the “cleansing reactions” a chance to subside, if you’re new to green smoothies. (Eighteen percent of the 175 people in my study experienced temporary reactions such as headache or diarrhea.
    That’s normal as your body recognizes excellent building materials coming in, and uses that opportunity to “clean house.”)

    In my research, 95.4% said green smoothies noticeably improved their health or quality of life! 84 percent were so excited, they taught others the habit! And the top benefits reported were more energy (85%), improved digestion (80%), fewer cravings for sweets and processed foods (65%), and weight loss (50%, with an average loss of 18 lbs.).

    Nutritional Yeast is grown on a mixture of cane and beet molasses. B-vitamins are added during the process to provide the yeast with the nutrients it needs to grow.  When harvested, the yeast is washed, pasteurized, and dried before it is ready for market.

    Vegans and vegetarians have used it for years as a source of vitamin B-12.  Health seekers who strive to eat primarily a whole foods diet use nutritional yeast because it tastes good with certain foods and adds extra nutrients to their diet.  Nutritional yeast contains 18 amino acids (forming the complete protein) and 15 minerals.

    HISTORY: Sprouts have been used for thousands of years. The Chinese have records of using sprouts 5,000 years ago for nutrition and healing. The Roman soldiers used them in the long journeys. In the Bible Daniel used pulse, which was a mixture of grains and sprouted seeds. This is how he and his companions increased their health and wisdom.

    BENEFITS: Scientific studies have shown that by sprouting grains, beans, seeds, and nuts the nutrition levels of proteins, vitamins and minerals increased 300-1000%.  By sprouting you have released the protective coating of the grain so the digestive enzymes are released. This makes them easily digestible for babies and the elderly.

    FACTS: By sprouting your grains and beans you can remain healthy and strong having fresh food with high protein, vitamin and mineral content.  If you are short on storage space you can have one 45 lb. bucket of sprouting mixture and have a year supply for one person.

    Sprouting is easy and you can have fresh produce in 3-4 days!!!

    HOW TO SPROUT: Place seeds in glass quart jar or sprouter.  Cover with water, let sit for 24 hours.  Then drain and rinse 3 times a day for 3 days.     Over a million Americans die each year of heart disease. The most common are those who die from congestive heart failure-coronary heart disease and high blood pressure. Each year 300,000 people die from heart attacks before they can make it to a hospital, or before the paramedics reach them. 10% of people who die from a heart attack die within 3 days. 1 out of 5 people who survive a heart attack will have another one within 4 years. Pretty grim, isn’t it? The good news is that we have the knowledge to prevent these conditions with proper exercise and nutrition.

    The Nutrition Almanac has a list of nutrients that are especially good for the heart. They are:

    Vitamin A, Vitamin B Complex, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B6, Choline, Folic Acid, Inositol,

    Niacin, Panthothenic Acid, Phosphatidylcholine, Vitamin C and bioflavonoids, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Calcium, Chromium, Copper, Iodine, Magensium, Manganese, Phosphorous, Potassium, Selenium, Zinc

    What to EatThe absolute best foods for the heart are those that are low in cholesterol. The absolute worst foods for the heart are those foods in the Standard American Diet-hamburgers, fries and a Coke. If you’re already leaning towards heart disease, you want to avoid anything that is going to add more cholesterol to your already overloaded system. Remember, fast food is not your friend.

    What to Avoid:Meat (Red in particular)



    Fried, Fatty Foods

    So, what can you eat? Among many other fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds are:

    Apples-Research in the Netherlands has shown that the phytochemicals in apples could help cut the risk of death from heart disease in half. Drinking 12 ounces of apple juice or eating two whole apples a day is beneficial. So an apple a day really does keep the doctor away.

    Onions-Eating half a raw onion a day raises HDL (good) cholesterol an average of 25 percent in most people who have cholesterol problems.

    Legumes/Beans-The fiber and other compounds present in legumes/beans can reduce cholesterol, blood clotting, and improve blood vessel function. These are also a great source of folate, which keeps homocysteine levels (an indicator of heart trouble) in check. One serving of dried beans/legumes a day can reduce cholesterol by up to 10%. They might not be fruit, but they are magic.

    Oats-Oats contain beat-glucans, a soluble fiber. Eating about one-cup of cooked oatmeal a day significantly decreases blood cholesterol levels. A great way to get your oats is with Easy Breakfast.

    Walnuts-Walnuts contain a type of fat called linolenic acid, which lowers cholesterol and prevents blood clots. Eating walnuts can decrease your total cholesterol level by 12% and LDL cholesterol level by 165. Nuts are part of the mucusless diet.

    Olive Oil, Canola Oil-Of all cooking oils, olive oil contains the largest proportion (77%) of monosaturated fat and has powerful antioxidants, which lowers LDL cholesterol without affecting HDL levels.

    Bananas-Besides being fat and cholesterol free, bananas are rich in vitamins, minerals, and soluble fiber.

    Peanuts-Peanuts, long known to be rich in protein, fiber, and several vitamins and minerals, pack a significant load of reservatrol. That’s one of the heart-saving chemicals called phenolics. Phenolics are powerful antioxidants, which sop up cell-damaging free radicals throughout the body. These compounds seem to limit the harm done by cholesterol to artery walls and are thought to battle cancer, too. Other research has suggested a handful of the nutrient-filled nuts a day won’t hurt your waistline - and is enough to benefit your heart.

    Don’t forget your green leafy vegetables and garlic!
